Moffles -- Six Ways



Mochi Waffles are soft and chewy inside and crisp on the outside



Moffles
MOchi waFFLES

2 Mochi Squares per Serving

Buy these HARD mochi squares NOT the soft sweetened snack mochi

To make Moffles
Buy a used NON STICK Wafflemaker at the thrift store, wash well, and preheat it on high till it indicates its ready.
Place 2-4 mochi squares on the 4 "slots' on the iron. Close the top.
Wait 2-4 mins, then press down on the top with an oven mitt till it completely closes.
Wait 3 minutes then open it and remove the Moffles, If its still stuck give it a few mins more



Serve them using one or two of these Asian inspired recipes



Cherry Syrup Moffles

1 jar Maraschino Cherries
2 teaspoons Potato Starch
Whipped Cream Cheese (optional)

Dump the cherries in a strainer over a pot. Add 2 Teaspoons Potato starch.
Rough chop the cherries and add to the pot.
Bring to a boil over low heat and take off the burner when thickened,
Pour over fresh baked Moffles, with or without cream cheese


 Matcha Moffles

Whipping Cream
Granulated Sugar
Matcha Powder
Confectioners Sugar

Mix 1 T Matcha with 2 T confectioners sugar.
Whip the cream in a bowl, add a few tablespoons of sugar to sweeten.
Top 2 fresh baked Moffles with cream then dust with the matcha.



Kinako Moffles

Whipping Cream
Granulated Sugar
Kinako Powder (or powdered Peanut Butter)
Confectioners Sugar
Chocolate Syrup

Mix 2 T Kinako with 2 T confectioners sugar.
Whip the cream in a bowl, add a few tablespoons of sugar to sweeten.
Top 2 fresh baked Moffles with cream then dust with the Kinako.
Drizzle with chocolate syrup


Moffle Musubi

2 thin slices Spam
1 slice American Cheese
1 square Nori
2 T Soy Sauce
1 T Sake
1 T Sugar

Fry the Spam in a fry pan, add the soy, sake, and sugar,  turn to coat.
Bake 2 Moffles, and immediately after taking out of the waffle press, top with hot spam, then the nori, then a slice of cheese and then the other Moffle
Eat




Spicy Shrimp Moffle Sandwich

1/3 Cup Chopped Salad Shrimp
2 T Mayo
1 t Hot Sesame Oil
Salt to taste
Lettuce leaf

Mix the shrimp with the mayo and sesame oil and salt
Top a moffle with the lettuce leaf and the shrimp then the other Moffle.
Eat.



Korean Moffle Sandwich

Kimchi
Cooked Bulgogi Meat
Fried Egg

Layer the Moffle with Kimchi, Bulgogi and the fried Egg, then the other Moffle
Eat
