Maple Candied Apples and Pears

 

 A unique twist on the traditional caramel or red candy apples
 
 Maple Candied Apples and Pears
 
4 Apples
4 Pears
 
2 bags Maple Sugar
2 T water
2 T Corn Syrup
 
Chopped Pecans (optional)
Cinnamon Sticks
Waxed Parchment 

Wash and dry the apples and pears and put a cinnamon stick in the top of each.

Put waxed parchment on a flat plate and set this next to the stove.

Put the maple sugar, corn syrup and water in a small pot and bring to a boil and then turn down to medium, med-low and simmer until it reaches 250-300F then working quickly and CAREFULLY, tilt the pot to the side and dip and turn each apple and pear to coat, dip in nuts if desired. Let cool and serve.
