Can Bake

I just figured Id post this idea for a no mess Beach Clam Bake from my old website.
Enjoy
CanBake

1 new or clean 30-gallon galvanized barrel with cover
3 or 4 large onion bags
I bushel seaweed (wet)
2 armfuls of split, dry hardwood

1)
On the beach, set up rocks or cement blocks to rest the barrel on,
allowing plenty of room underneath for fire. Put about 4 inches of
seawater in the barrel and set it on the fire. After water boils hard,
add some seaweed and get It boiling hard again.
2)
Add food all at one time: lobsters in a bag on bottom, layer of seaweed,
then bag of onions and potatoes, another layer of seaweed, then bag of
corn, more seaweed, and lastly, a bag of clams with seaweed on top. Put
a little seaweed around the bags to keep them away from the side of the
can. Cover with the lid. (potatoes and onions need no prior cooking but
try to have them all the same size. Leave some of the husks on the corn.)

Keep the fire blazing hard all the while and in about 25 minutes the clams
will be done and open up. When the clams are done, take them out to eat,
tip over the barrel and leave it (keeping it out of the sand) until you've
eaten the clams.
