Pulled Pork Sleeve And Onion Slivers

Pulled Pork Sleeve
And
Onion Slivers

Box of 12 Mop Heads
2 Dark Brown Rit Fabric Dye
2 Scarlett Rit Fabric Dye
Water
7-8 yards Spandexy Burgundy Fabric
Burgundy Thread
Elastic
Red Zip Ties
Skewer
Stiff Thin Rope

Dye all the mop heads according to Rit package directions
Note: I bought a cheap giant pot at the Thrift Store to dye things in, outside. I NEVER cook in it.
I actually didnt dye all of them, there wasnt enough dye. But YOU do it.

Drip 2/3rds dry in the sun, then dry with dryer sheets in the dryer to fluff them (You will get a ton of lint off of them)

NONE OF THIS SLEEVE NEEDS TO BE PERFECT
Make a sleeve 242" around to cover the edge of the hamburger portion of the original cheeseburger bed. Out oof any fabric that is the same color as the dyed mop heads
In my case I had to sew 2 124" pieces of fabric, with 1-1/2" seams

Turn it inside out

Turn the edge over on both sides and sew pockets, one for Elastic, the other for cotton string

Inside out with elastic and rope installed

Slip it on the hamburger, Elastic at bottom, rope at bottom.

Arrange the Dyed mop-heads around the sleeve

Untangled
Choose 2 top strings
 Tie them together
Untangle one side of each dyed mop head to the nylon bias tape, then tie 1 knot on either side

Use 2 Zip Ties each to attach the mop heads to the sleeve with the skewer. Piercing thru the burgundy fabric.

Place on Bottom bun.

Slivered Pickled Onions

This is a freeform "recipe" It depends on how many onion slivers you want

Pinkish Red Colored Wide Bias Tape
Thin Batting
Cream Colored Wide Bias Tape
Plastic Boning
White Thread

Cut a sufficient length and width of all 3 layers, Pink and Cream Bias tapes and Thin batting (mine was almost 76" long
Lay pink and cream bias tape Right sides together and place batting on top of the cream bias strip, pin or clip together.
Sew down the unclipped side with pink bias tape down
Remove the clips and sew down the other side side with pink bias tape down

Load a elastic or drawstring threader with stiff string or in this case leftover red bias tape, thread it thru the cream bias tape and pink bias tape

Pull it thru
sew the leftover bias tape or stiff string down sewing thru all 4 layers, trim away the excess.

Pull the red bias tape or string out and turn the entire thing inside out!, This takes some doing, so be patient.

 Coming thru!

All the way inside out! Now trim off the red bias tape or string, cutting that closed edge open again.

Finished Strip

Iron it flat

Cut into 3 mostly equal strips
And cut 3 pieces of boning to match

Boning and Onion strips

Thread the boning thru the onion strips between the pink and cream

 Tuck the edges in
 And sew em down
The completed Pickled Onion Slivers

DONE

Total =about $150
